The profession of a miner is something mysterious for people who have not been faced with the work of a mine. The image of a miner, in the minds of many people, is a man who is dirty to blackness, who somewhere deep underground, with the help of a pickaxe, extracts coal. Then, he pushes a small trailer loaded with coal to the surface of the earth. About 100 years ago, this process looked like this. The development of technology, this whole process has greatly simplified.

What is a modern mine?

The underground part of the mine consists of tunnels, which are located horizontally, vertically and at an angle. They are called - workings. Mine terminology is rich in specific names that do not mean anything to an uninitiated person. This also applies to the name of the workings. Depending on the purpose, they have their own names: drift, cross, slope, trunk, furnace, adit (many have heard this name in films and cartoons).

People descend into the mine either along a vertical shaft in a cage (like in an elevator), or along an inclined shaft in platforms resembling children's carriages. Further, everyone disperses through the mine workings to their jobs. The distance of the workplace from the trunk can reach 5-7 km.

Coal is mined using coal miners in workings called - lava. But at the same time, there are still mines where coal is mined by the method of our grandfathers - jackhammers. From the longwall, coal is transported by a rope to the nearest mine, where it is poured either onto the next conveyor (looks like a conveyor belt at the checkout in a supermarket), or into carriages, which are pushed further by an electric locomotive. Coal is delivered to the surface either along inclined workings by conveyors, or along a vertical shaft with skips (a huge lift).

What professions are there in the mine?

- this is not the name of the profession. This word is used for all people working underground. But there are many professions in the mine, each with a specific job performance. The most common are:

- GROZ (a mine working face) - these people are directly involved in coal mining, they maintain and repair mechanisms that extract coal, fix the "roof" (rock mass that is overhead) so that it does not collapse, etc .;

- tunnellers - make tunnels (workings) along the mine, through which coal, fresh air, people will be transported later;

- Hydraulic fracturing (underground miners) - perform all auxiliary work on loading and unloading materials, repair and installation of mechanisms, cleaning coal from the soil, etc.;

- MPU (operators of underground installations) - control various mechanisms;

- electrical fitters - repair the mechanical and electrical parts of the equipment, they ensure the trouble-free operation of all mechanisms;

- mine surveyors - draw up maps of underground workings, suggest the direction of the workings.

Is it hard to be a miner?

Any job in a mine is not easy. Despite the fact that most of the processes are mechanized, a lot of work has to be done manually. In conditions of high air temperature, dustiness and confined spaces, any work is much harder than on the surface.

The hardest work is for tunnellers and GROZs, but their salaries are also the highest.

Miners are believed to be fearless and strong people. Physical activity and difficult working conditions really create such people. Miners are also close-knit people. The specificity of production implies only teamwork. It's easier and safer to work this way.

How to become a miner?

Any of the mining professions requires specific knowledge that is acquired in educational institutions- institutes, technical schools, lyceums. The term of study is from 1 to 5 years.

There is also an accelerated form of education - at the training centers of the mines. Moreover, any person without education can acquire one of the professions in 2-3 months. But this education will not be enough for career growth... After the end of the training point, only blue-collar professions are available.

Why do people go to work as miners?

Work in the mine attracts with the level of wages and benefits.

Even a low-skilled miner has a salary that is much higher than that of people working on the surface. Over time, increasing your professional level, you can get a very high salary.

Miners have a vacation time of about 60 days a year.

If you go to work in a mine at the age of 18, then you can retire at the age of 38-50 (depending on the profession).

When living in a private house with stove heating - coal is free.

The coal trade unions are working well, allocating annual vouchers to the sea, to sanatoriums, recreation centers.

Quantitative and qualitative accounting of the work performed. Analysis and generalization of data on the work of mining brigades. Drawing up and submitting in the prescribed manner required documents and reports. Ensuring compliance with the legislation on the protection of subsoil and the environment, including land reclamation during mining. Industrial briefing for workers of mining brigades. Monitoring the observance by members of mining crews of production discipline, labor protection rules, fire protection rules. Participation in the selection and professional development of mining crews. 3. RIGHTS A mining foreman has the right to: 3.1. Request and receive the necessary materials and documents related to the activities of the mining foreman. 3.2.
