I am against war and against the killing of animals, but there is something in me that every year pulls me to admire the weapon.
I love and respect weapons.

The 13th International Exhibition "Arms & Hunting: Arms & Hunting 2016" is taking place in Moscow from September 29 to October 2.
Traditionally, gunsmiths and hunters, leading manufacturers and distributors of hunting and sporting weapons in the world, young manufacturers of smooth-bore weapons and cartridges, dealers of leading hunting brands have gathered in the best showroom in the capital - Gostiny Dvor on Ilyinka.

Leading Russian and foreign arms manufacturers are represented at the exhibition.
It has attracted numerous amateurs and professionals: hunters, security and law enforcement officials.

From the way they handled weapons and the questions they asked, it immediately became clear that they knew this subject firsthand.
A lot of young people also come. At various stands one could get acquainted with samples of modern rifles, optics, crossbows, knives from various manufacturers, clothing and hunting equipment. Armourers from Germany, Italy and Belgium brought impressive expositions to Moscow. Beautiful guns, high-quality optics (scopes, binoculars, telescopes, etc.), all this could be touched, carefully examined and consulted.

Every year we introduce our regular readers to the novelties of the annual Arms & Hunting exhibitions. We admit that over the past 3 exhibitions, the amount of material has decreased from year to year, as a result of which our reviews have lost in volume and information content. There was a good reason for that: the economic crisis and sanctions from the United States and most European states. The climax in terms of the number of new products, exhibitors and the quality of stands was 2013. However, a year later, Arms & Hunting began to resemble an exhibition fair, similar to the more narrowly focused "Hunting and Fishing" at the All-Russian Exhibition Center. The refusal of many foreign companies to participate, "hunger" in the ammunition market and the lack of import substitution in a number of arms and ammunition segments made Arms & Hunting 2014 the most depressing exhibition in recent years. 2015 exactly repeated the previous year, only the number of trade rows at the exhibition increased. Some improvement took place in the past, 2016, which, in fact, was expected from the current one. However, Arms & Hunting-2017 was able to surprise even skeptics. In terms of scope, the current exhibition, of course, is far from the level of 2013, but progress is noticeable with the naked eye. Actually, today it will not even be entirely correct to compare the exhibition with Arms & Hunting 2013 - too much has changed during this time.

Mainly, domestic manufacturers were able to significantly expand the product lines that could replace imported suppliers. At the same time, foreign companies, even in spite of the continuing sanctions, became participants in the exhibition. Moreover, today they cannot feel out of competition in the Russian market, as it was some 4 years ago.

The Arms & Hunting-2017 exhibition, as never before, reflected the new economic and political realities, in which the role of the "first violin" was already played by a domestic manufacturer! This is striking when visiting the stands of companies that are part of the ROSTECH state corporation: large stands with a well-developed design, provision of the entire line of civilian products, trained personnel, PR campaigns and presentations. The level of presentation of products at the stands of private Russian manufacturers and importers has also increased, as a result of which the line between the stands of Russian and foreign companies has practically disappeared. The offensive of Russian manufacturers “on all fronts” is felt this year as never before. Of course, problems remain. In addition to them, new ones have appeared, but for the first time in the last 3 years, Arms & Hunting-2017 instills confidence in tomorrow market of civilian weapons, cartridges and accessories.

The time has come to talk about the new products of the exhibition, of which there are many in comparison with previous years, but we will deviate a little from the rule by first telling about the new products of the Kalashnikov Concern (KK).

Created in 2013, the concern united the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (IzhMech) and the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (IzhMash). Accordingly, all civilian products of these factories are released with the KK logo. Per Last year the concern has created a brand-zone on the trading floors of its dealers, where a line of civilian products is displayed and sold under the sign of KK. Taking into account not the most positive experience of creating the only dealer of the concern, KK significantly expanded both the geography of sales of its products and gradually began deliveries of previously scarce models. First of all, these are “Tiger” rifled carbines and MP-27 rifles. But today we will not talk about them, but about new products. KK spent huge amounts of money on his own PR company, creating new directions for himself, for example, sewing a collection of expensive hunting clothes, showrooms for the sale of which are open in many parts of the country.

This year, the concern presented 3 models of the hollowed out combat weapons: Nagant revolver, Stechkin automatic pistol (APS) and silent pistol (PB). All three models are chambered for the 10TK light-sound action pistol cartridge. Of the greatest interest to the mass consumer is the hollowed-out Nagant. The "fencing" of the Nagant is similar to that from the Degtyarev plant (ZiD), that is, it is very sparing and does not hurt connoisseurs of weapons. Hope - for a more democratic price tag compared to the product from ZiD.

It is not worth taking seriously the emaciated APS and, especially, PB because of their rarity. The APS is still popular with various law enforcement agencies, especially in the southern republics of Russia. The PB cannot even be attributed to a mass-produced weapon - it is rather a special product, the number of units of which is negligible compared to even a rare APS. Therefore, it is safe to say that the number of figures in the price for each of these products will be six figures.

Two more novelties were presented in the segment of "traumatic" weapons: these are self-loading pistols MP-356 and MP-357. The MP-356 has already appeared at Army-2017, so those who have not visited Army-2017 could have a look at Arms & Hunting-2017. In fact, this is the well-known Yarygin MP-353 traumatic pistol, in which instead of the 45Rubber cartridge, the 10 * 28 cartridge is used. That is, the MP-356 is exactly the pistol that the potential owners of the "traumatic" were waiting for, and it was he who was to be born first, and not the MP-353 baud, a more exotic cartridge. 45Rubber. However, even now, the MP-356 could really crash the sales of the best-selling Russian traumatics market - the T12F pistol and its modification T12FM1. But a look inside the bore puts everything in its place: with such an "architecture" the barrel is not competitive in terms of power. At the same time, of course, the reliability of the automation is beyond doubt - 2 large protrusions in the barrel bore will allow the pistol to be flawlessly reloaded on any cartridges. By the appearance of the bore, it can be assumed that the MP-356, even on the most powerful modern cartridges, will give out no more than 50 Joules, which can easily become the impetus for the release of the 10 * 28 cartridge directly for the MP-356. This can be a great gift for T12 owners, in whose pistols the cartridge for the MP-356 will show much higher energy. However, given legislative framework and modern forensic requirements, the emergence of such a patron is questionable. Therefore, option 2: either the MP-356 will receive a new freer bore, or it will follow the path of impeccably made Vostok pistols, whose failure in the non-lethal weapon market is due to low muzzle energy.

At the same time, the second novelty from KK is amazing - this is a new subcompact MP-357 chambered for 9 mm RA. Because of the fuse, bloggers superficially versed in weapons have already ranked it as a PSM clone, but in fact the MP-357 is still the same Makarov pistol (PM). The pistol received a new frame and bolt. At the same time, the trigger and the magazine shortened to 6 rounds went to the pistol from the PM. This is a huge plus in terms of both the availability of spare parts and the reliability of the long-established design. But the most important thing is the trunk of the novelty. It is completely smooth and thick-walled along its entire length. Only a small protrusion just behind the chamber does not allow it to be called completely smooth. The hole seen in the photo is the channel of the drummer, which was removed from the exhibit to deactivate the pistol. Looking at the barrel design as a whole, you understand that the MP-357 is just a PR move by KK marketers. For who interfered or is hindering making the same barrel on the losing popularity MP-79-9T or on a subcompact based on PSM MP-78-9T? There are two answer options: such a barrel will either be in order to "recoup" the costs of design and production, making it a new bestseller on the market, or not, being presented in a commercial version as an analogue of the MP-79-9T in barrel design. Intrigue? Perhaps. It can only be seen that different marketers worked on the MP-356 and MP-357.

In the segment of smoothbore weapons - the long-awaited novelty MP-156 - the first Russian self-loading smoothbore rifle with an inertial reloading system. Anyone who wants to see his photographs can take a look at the photo of the gas outlet MP-155 and will not be mistaken. Visually, the difference between the MP-156 and the MP-155 is only in the form of a forend nut. All changes are in the same place: an inertial system is located inside the forend in place of the gas engine. In all other respects, the new gun is unified with the most popular gun in Russia, the MP-155.

The latter, by the way, was the subject of a video recently filmed by KK, which was continuously played on the large monitor of the concern's stand. In the video, several independent experts, headed by a representative of the concern, shoot from Turkish Hatsan and M155 rifles (not to be confused with the MP-155) and the domestic MP-155. Of course, Hatsan and M155 lose, having fired about 300 and 800 shots before the breakdown, respectively, and the MP-155 failed after about 1300 shots. At the same time, a failed Hatsan would require serious repair of non-essential parts, the M155 had to replace the piston, and the sear for the MP-155 broke. Let's honestly say that finding a piston for a Turkish gun in Russia may be easier than whispering for an MP-155. This continuously shown video clearly confirms the concerns of KK regarding competition in the niche of cheap gas semiautomatic devices on the Russian market. The reason is simple: the imported M155 (in fact, the M155 is the Turkish semi-automatic KRAL Queen, renamed to the KK peak) is cheaper than the domestic gun! It is clear that weapons from Turkey do not pass as many tests as Russian ones, but the Turkish manufacturer very quickly "works on mistakes", adapting its models to the operating conditions of our country.
