We present to your attention photos that, at first glance, may seem quite ordinary and harmless. But what made them famous was the fact that behind each of them terrible events lurk. It is unlikely that any of us thinks that this or that picture may become the last in our life or precede a tragedy. For example, not so long ago, newlyweds on vacation were photographed a second before the misfortune. And if death itself is impossible to capture, then in each of the photographs presented below it is definitely invisibly present.

Survivors... At first glance, there is nothing unusual in this photo. Until you notice the gnawed human backbone in the lower right corner.

The heroes of the picture are the players of the Uruguayan rugby team "Old Cristians" from Montevideo, who survived the plane crash on October 13, 1972: the plane crashed in the Andes. Of the 40 passengers and 5 crew members, 12 died in the crash or shortly after; then 5 more died the next morning ..

Search operations were stopped on the eighth day, and the survivors had to fight for their lives for more than two months. Since food supplies quickly ran out, they had to feed on the frozen corpses of their friends.

Without waiting for help, some of the victims made a dangerous and long crossing over the mountains, which turned out to be successful. 16 men were rescued.

In 2012 Mexican music star Jenny Rivera died in a plane crash. Selfie on the plane was taken a few minutes before the tragedy.

No one survived as a result of the plane crash

Thunderstorm Games... In August 1975, a girl from the United States, Mary McQuilken, photographed her two brothers, Michael and Sean, during severe bad weather, with whom she spent time on the top of one of the rocks in the California Sequoia National Park.

A second after the photo was taken, lightning struck all three. Only 18-year-old Michael managed to survive. In this photo - the sister of the young men Mary.

It is worth noting that the atmospheric discharge was so powerful and close that the hair of young people literally stood on end. The surviving Michael works as a computer engineer and still receives emails with questions about what happened that day.

Regina Walters... Photographed 14-year-old girl Serial killer named Robert Ben Rhodes a few seconds before he was killed ... The maniac took Regina into an abandoned barn, cut her hair and forced her to wear a black dress and shoes.

Rhodes traveled to the United States in a huge trailer, which he equipped with a torture chamber. His victims were at least three people a month.

Walters was one of those who fell into the trap of a maniac. Her body was found in a barn, which was to be burned.

"Fire!". In April 1999, high school students from the American Columbine School posed for a big picture. For the general gaiety, two guys pretending to point a rifle and a pistol at the camera hardly attracted attention.

But in vain. A few days later, these guys, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, appeared at Columbine with weapons and improvised explosives: their victims were 13 fellow practitioners, 23 people were injured.

The crime was carefully planned, which led to such a number of victims.

The perpetrators were not arrested, since in the end they shot themselves. Later it became known that the teenagers had been outsiders at school for many years, and the incident became a brutal act of revenge.

Girl with black eyes. You might think that this is a frame from a horror movie, but, unfortunately, this is a real photo. In November 1985, the Ruiz volcano erupted in Colombia, as a result of which the province of Armero was covered with mudflows.

13-year-old Omaira Sanchez became a victim of a tragedy: her body was stuck in the rubble of a building, as a result, the girl stood up to her neck in the mud for three days. Her face was swollen, her hands were almost white, and her eyes were bloodshot.

Rescuers tried to rescue the girl different ways but in vain.

Three days later, Omaira fell into agony, stopped responding to people and eventually died.

Family photo... It would seem that there is nothing strange in a Victorian photo showing a father and mother with their daughter. The only peculiarity: the girl is very clear in the picture, and her parents are blurred. Can you guess why? Before us is one of the posthumous photographs popular in those days, and the girl captured on it died shortly before from typhus.

The corpse remained motionless in front of the lens, and therefore clearly manifested itself: photographs in those days were taken with a long exposure, which is why they had to pose for a very, very long time. Perhaps that is why “post-mortem” (ie “after death”) photos have become incredibly fashionable. Oddly enough, the heroine of this picture is also already dead.

The woman in this photo died in childbirth. In photo salons, they even installed special devices for fixing corpses, and the eyes of the deceased were opened and a special agent was buried in them so that the mucous membrane did not dry out and the eyes did not become cloudy.

Fatal dive... It would seem that there is nothing strange in this photo of divers. However, why does one of them lie at the very bottom?

Divers accidentally discovered the corpse of 26-year-old Tina Watson, who died on October 22, 2003 during her honeymoon. The girl and her husband named Gabe went on their honeymoon to Australia, where they decided to go diving.

Under the water, the beloved turned off the oxygen cylinder of the young wife and kept him at the bottom until she suffocated. Later, the offender, who received a life sentence, said that his goal was to get insurance.

Sad father... A cursory glance in this picture of a brooding African is nothing unusual, but a closer look reveals that the man has severed children's feet and a hand in front of him.

Pictured is a Congolese rubber plantation worker who was unable to work out a quota. As a punishment, the overseers ate his five-year-old daughter, giving the remains for edification ... This was practiced quite often, as can be seen from other photographs.

At the same time, white officers and overseers, as evidence that they had killed the local cannibal, presented his right hand. The desire to rise in the service led to the fact that everyone's hands were cut off, including children, and those who pretended to be dead could stay alive ...

Sword Assassin... It would seem like a shot from Halloween, right? 21-year-old Swede, Anton Lundin Peterson, came in this form to one of Trollhatten's schools on October 22, 2015. Two schoolchildren decided that what was happening was a joke and happily took a picture with a stranger in a strange outfit.

After that, Peterson stabbed these young men and went for the next victims. As a result, he killed one teacher and four children. The police opened fire on him and he died of his wounds in the hospital.

Dying tourist... Americans Sailor Gilliams and Brenden Vega went hiking in the vicinity of Santa Barbara, but got lost due to inexperience. There was no connection, and due to the heat and lack of water, the girl was completely exhausted. Brendan went for help, but crashed, falling off a cliff.

And these photos were taken by a group of experienced tourists who, returning home with horror, noticed a red-haired girl lying unconscious on the ground. Rescuers went by helicopter to the scene of the tragedy, Sailor survived.

Abduction two-year-old James Bulger. It would seem that it is strange that an older boy leads the younger by the hand? But behind this picture is a terrible tragedy ...

John Venables and Robert Thompson were led away from shopping center 2-year-old James Bulger was brutally beaten, covered with paint and left for dead on the train tracks.

The 10-year-old killers were found thanks to the video from the surveillance camera. The criminals received the maximum sentence for their age - 10 years, which greatly outraged the public and the victim's mother. Moreover, in 2001 they were released and received documents under new names.

In 2010, it became known that John Venables had been returned to prison for an unspecified parole violation.

Later it became known that Venables was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography. The police found 57 images of child pornography on his computer. On the Internet, Venables posed as a 35-year-old married woman who bragged about the abuse of her 8-year-old daughter in the hopes of obtaining other child pornography.

Take a picture of your own killer... Again, at first glance, we have the usual family photo, but take a closer look at the background.

The picture was taken by a Filipino adviser Reinaldo Dags, whom the killer decided to take revenge on for facilitating his arrest for stealing a car.

It was the photo that helped to quickly identify the killer and put him back behind bars.

Suicide on the bridge... A Chinese reporter who tried to capture the fog on the Wuhan Yangtze River, only after a detailed study of the photo, found that the picture captured a man at the moment of falling from the bridge, as it turned out later, after a few seconds his girlfriend jumped after him.

The last shower... The man in the photo has a weird expression, don't you think? The camera with this image was found in the washing machine of Travis Alexander, who was killed in the shower with 25 stab wounds, including in the neck, and a shot to the head.

The incident was blamed on his girlfriend Jody Arias, with whom he was going to break up, but the girl pursued him and literally did not give a pass

In other images found at the crime scene, the couple was captured in sexual positions, and the image of Travis in the shower was captured at 5:29 pm on the day of the murder. In the photo, taken just minutes later, Alexander was already lying in blood on the floor.

Seconds before the explosion... The father and daughter posing for the photo could hardly have guessed that there was explosives in the car captured next to them, which would detonate in a few seconds.

This terrorist attack in August 1998 was carried out by the terrorist organization The Real Irish Republican Army. As a result, 29 people died, more than 220 were injured. The camera with the first picture was found under the rubble, and his heroes miraculously survived.

Some gruesome deaths have at their disposal unique photographs taken immediately after the incident or shortly before.

"The most beautiful suicide"

Photographer Robert Wiles was accidentally near the Empire State Building in New York, where he captured an ambiguous picture, which was later nicknamed "The Most Beautiful Suicide." Young girl Evelyn McHale took her own life by jumping from the top floors of the building and landing on a UN limousine. In a note left before her death, the deceased said that she had abandoned the groom and that he would be better off without her, since she would not become a good wife for anyone.

Regina Kay Walters

The dying photo of 14-year-old Regina Kay Walters was captured by serial killer Robert Ben Rhodes, who, some time before the murder, put on a dress, shoes and cut off her hair. Shortly after the incident, the police detained the suspect at the wheel of a truck, where a real torture chamber and the very same camera were found in the trailer.

Christopher McCandless

This is the last image that the traveler Christopher McCandless captured himself before heading out to the uninhabited part of Alaska. Very soon, the body of a man was found in an abandoned bus, and an autopsy revealed that McCandless had been poisoned by the root of a poisonous plant he discovered.

A photojournalist from South Africa worked with a camera during the famine in the country in 1993 and captured a truly terrifying picture. In the photo, a small child, emaciated by hunger, crawls to a food distribution point under the scorching sun and is chased by a vulture, which hunts down the available prey. This photo won a Pulitzer Prize, and its creator committed suicide at the age of 33 due to the fact that he could not bear the guilt of not acting in this situation. The fact is that Kevin Carter could not approach the children due to the threat of infection.
