Rostelecom gpon which router. Overview of GPON technology from Rostelecom - equipment, cost, benefits. Under ADSL technology

A router is a routing equipment that directs information flows between devices, a local network and the Internet. To do this, it has built-in telephone, USB and LAN connectors that transmit Wi-Fi modules.

Public Joint Stock Company Rostelecom divides routers into 4 types:

  • devices of own production;
  • recommended options from among models from other manufacturers;
  • supported but no longer recommended devices;
  • unsupported devices, when working with which the organization completely disclaims responsibility for the quality of Internet access services.

PJSC Rostelecom is the owner of one of the four federal mobile operators, LLC T2 Mobile.

For a more detailed list of equipment for home Internet services of PJSC Rostelecom, see the page of the company's official website.

Router Specifications

When choosing equipment, you have to pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • device type;
  • number of antennas;
  • number of ports;
  • wireless standard.

Let's consider the characteristics in more detail.

Device types

Routing equipment can be divided into 4 types depending on the data transmission channel:

  • ADSL modems receive a signal from the telephone network, demodulate it and deliver it to the user. The most visually noticeable feature of the modem is that instead of a LAN connector for connecting to the Internet, you will find an RJ-11 telephone input on it.
  • ETTH routers are used when the Internet goes through fiber optic lines to the recipient's house, and inside the house it reaches consumers' routers through classic network cables.
  • fiber optic routers. The only difference with the previous ones is that they are directly connected to the fiber optic network without the use of intermediate equipment. This is especially true for the private sector.
  • 4G modems. Information comes to it from the nearest base station of the mobile operator. Just insert the SIM card into the device.

The most common in Russia is the ETTH router. But in order to conduct a fiber optic channel to the private sector, the provider will have to spend money. He will consider it economically inexpedient or will include his costs in the cost of connecting to the service.

When options 2 and 3 of routing equipment are not suitable, it remains to choose between a wireless signal from a base station and the Internet via a telephone line. Start from the quality of cellular communications of operators and connection speeds through the telephone network offered by the provider.

Number of antennas

Today it is already impossible to imagine a router without Wi-Fi modules. To increase the coverage area of a wireless network, developers install remote antennas. As a rule, there are 2 of them. But in practice, there are routers with 1 to 6 antennas. This is not the only factor that affects coverage, power, radio frequencies, wall materials and even weather also play a role.

MIMO technology allows you to increase the bandwidth of wireless communication networks. Depending on the settings, it redistributes the load over several antennas. For example, in a 2×2 configuration, 2 antennas receive a signal, 2 transmit. In a configuration with three antennas, one works for reception, the second for transmission, and the third reversely receives and then transmits traffic, depending on the current need.

Number of ports

Choose the number of ports based on how many and what kind of wired devices you want to connect:

  • There are 1-4 network ports, they are marked on the body with the inscription LAN and numbered. I connect IPTV set-top boxes and computers to them;
  • there are no more than 2 ports for IP telephony, they are suitable for analog phones and faxes;
  • USB ports are often missing, but some manufacturers install up to 2 such ports on their models. With their help, you can provide access to a single data storage, a printer, or connect wireless Internet from a base station;
  • In most cases, the WAN port is one and is a telephone, network or fiber optic socket.

On most modern routers, when a device is connected to any port, a light with a port identifier lights up on the body of the router. If you connected, but it did not light up, then you did something wrong or some part of the circuit is broken.

Wireless standard

In the Russian Federation, 2 frequency bands are allocated for Wi-Fi wireless broadband access technology - 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The second option involves newer data transmission technologies, wider channels and less interference from other routers. There are 2 disadvantages to this option:

  • the price, now this minus has almost disappeared, but you won’t be able to buy a budget router in which 5 GHz modules cover more than 50 m2;
  • far from subscriber devices support this range, so if you bought a suitable router, it’s not a fact that you can take full advantage of it.

All the advantages of 5 GHz wireless data transmission come down to the fact that information is transmitted and received faster. Wi-Fi operating at a frequency of 2.4 GHz is more accessible in stores and among subscriber devices.

The documentation for routers that are equipped with Wi-Fi modules contains the name of the supported wireless data transfer technologies. It starts with "IEEE 802.11" and ends with a list of Latin letters separated by "/":

  • b, g and n - standards operating at frequencies of 2.4-2.5 GHz;
  • a, ac and ax are standards operating at 5.15-5.95 GHz.

Which routers are suitable for Rostelecom

Consider the features of routers that are suitable for accessing the services of PJSC Rostelecom, depending on the wired communication network used.

Under ADSL technology

19 years ago, the first asymmetric ADSL digital subscriber line was launched in Russia. This modem technology was a breakthrough for domestic Internet access. Thanks to her, it became possible to call and use the Internet at the same time. Plus, ADSL has significantly increased the connection speed and unlimited provider tariffs have appeared.

ADSL differs from a fiber optic connection in that it uses an analog telephone network, demodulates the received signal into digital, and provides the user with the result.

The main advantage of ADSL is the prevalence of wired telephone lines. At the beginning of the 21st century, they reached most private houses. Optical fiber has not received such prevalence so far.

  • xDSL modem ZTE H108N;
  • xDSL modem Upvel UR-344.

Both models support wireless data transfer, WPS technology, connection of USB devices, including 4G modems and IPTV. For a wired connection, you use 4 wired LAN ports.

As of 04/02/2019, devices are estimated by the provider at 1,890 rubles.

With ETTH connection

Under the abbreviation ETTH, the phrase “Ethernet To The Home” is hidden, i.e. Ethernet to Home. Ethernet is the most popular wired data transmission technology in the world. You use it too.

We are used to seeing ETTH routers in almost every building. In ETTH routers, the LAN connector does not differ from the WAN connector, where the provider's Internet cable goes.

This type of connection is especially convenient for apartment buildings - the provider runs the line through fiber optic channels, and distributes it to apartments using conventional network cables. Compared to a telephone line, this gives higher speeds.

ETTH allows you to transmit information at a distance of up to 100 km without loss. When data is transmitted by the operator in the Metro Ethernet backbones, the speed reaches 10 Gbps.

Despite the high cost of communication over long distances, ETTH is recognized in the world as the most promising technology for accessing local networks and the Internet.

  • Iskratel E80;
  • Rotek RX-22311;
  • ZTE H298A;
  • Iskratel E70;
  • Sercomm S1010;
  • Rotek RX-22200;
  • Rotek RX-22312.

Among the listed devices, there are options for any request and wallet - with dual-band Wi-Fi, with support for Voice IP, USB devices and so on.

As of 04/02/2019, devices are estimated by the provider at 2,100 - 3,500 rubles.

For GPON

Gigabit PON is a passive optical network technology. The main difference between such devices and simple routers is that they are connected directly to the optical fiber. Most often, such terminals are used by providers. But if the subscriber lives in a private house, then such a router will suit him. Sometimes it is used together with an ETTH device, sometimes on its own.

Gigabit PON is just one of the most promising varieties of PON. In addition, there are ATM PON, Broadband PON, Ethernet PON, Gigabit Ethernet PON and 10 Gigabit Ethernet PON.

  • IPTV operation through one of 4 RJ-45 connectors;
  • wireless data transmission via Wi-Fi networks 802.11 b / g / n at a frequency of 2400 - 2480 MHz. You can create up to 4 separate subnets with their own SSIDs and passwords. Up to 128 devices will fit on each subnet. The ZTE model can store information about 4000 devices with different MAC addresses. The data transfer rate reaches 300 Mbps within the local network for all subscribers in total.
  • USB port for connecting a flash drive, hard drive, printer or USB modem;
  • WPS button for quick connection of subscriber devices to a wireless network without entering a password.

F660 terminals have 2 vulnerabilities:

  • the WPS button has factory security settings that are the same for all terminals of the company and are in the public domain. If the user does not change the PIN code, then any intruder will be able to connect to the local network;
  • any device registered in the terminal's network, you can send it a command to collect settings without entering the administrator's login and password.

DVG-N5402GF

DLink positions its DVG-5402GF as a Voice IP router with the ability to connect analog phones and faxes to IP networks.

  • 2 bands for wireless data transmission - 2.4 GHz for 802.11 b/g/n standards and 5 GHz for 802.11 n/a/ac standards. Due to this, the total data transfer rate in the local network via wireless networks increased to 867 Mbps;
  • 4 antennas for wireless data transmission increase coverage.

As of 04/02/2019, the device is estimated at 8,190 rubles.

How to connect a router correctly

To connect the router, follow 3 steps:

  1. Insert the power cord into it and make sure that the leftmost indicator on the front panel lights up.
  2. Plug the cable provided by the ISP into the connector labeled WAN.
  3. Connect a laptop or PC to the LAN port of the router with a power cord. The indicator with the corresponding LAN port number on the front panel should light up.

In order for the Internet to work and the corresponding indicator to light up, you need to configure the equipment.

Before you start setting up the router, find authorization information on it or in the documentation:

Thereafter:

  1. Turn on your computer and launch any browser.
  2. Type the IP address into the browser's address bar and press Enter.
  3. Enter your login password for authorization.
  4. Find the wired connection settings to specify the login, password and other data specified in the contract.
  5. In the LAN section, specify the IPTV connector and enable this feature if you have a set-top box.
  6. Enter the SSID and password for Wi-Fi in the wireless settings. If the router supports multiSSID or 2 frequency bands, you will have to enter data separately for each subnet.

PJSC Rostelecom specifies the following settings for connection in the contract:

  • login and password, they are used to identify you as a legal user. Do not confuse them with the corresponding data for entering the WEB interface of the router;
  • network access protocol / connection type / encapsulation type. PJSC Rostelecom, as a rule, uses PPPoE (Point-to-Point over Ethernet);
  • VPI / VCI - 0/55;
  • Service category - UBR.

To start IPTV television, use the following settings:

  • VPI = 0;
  • VCI = 50;
  • Encapsulation Type = Bridged IP over ATM LLC SNAP (RFC1483);
  • Service category = UBR.

Also don't forget to set:

  • make a list of devices that are denied access to your local network;
  • make a list of devices that are allowed access to your local network;
  • will limit the speed and volume of traffic for all users, specific categories or subnets.

PJSC Rostelecom supports a wide range of routing equipment for any purpose. Use our criteria to select the most suitable router option.

The constant development of technology allows you to connect the Internet to apartments at ever higher speeds. One of the methods for such a connection is Gpon technology, which is also offered by Rostelecom.

Gpon - general job description

Passive optical technologies (Pon) appeared not very long ago, but they are confidently replacing traditional methods of organizing Internet access using copper cables. Optical cable has huge advantages over copper cable:

The "G" prefix suggests that the connection is at gigabit speed. This technology is called passive because there is no active network equipment between the provider's node and the end user, and the optics are laid directly into the client's apartment.

No equipment is required, because the length of the optical cable without additional signal amplification is up to 20 km, and in the near future, developments are underway to increase the line to 60 km.

Connection can be carried out in synchronous and asynchronous modes. Usually providers prefer asynchronous mode. The maximum speed is limited to 2.5 Gb / s for receiving, and 1.25 Gb / s for transmitting information.

The principle of connection to Rostelecom

In order to connect, a future subscriber needs to contact the nearest Rostelecom office and leave an application. You can connect one or more services to choose from:

  • Internet;
  • City (landline) telephony;
  • IP TV.

Any connection to the provider by wire requires additional costs.

Those customers who have previously been connected to Rostelecom using ADSL technology know this from their own experience, new subscribers will be told about this when submitting an application.

The main difficulties are the installation of the cable, which, due to its specific qualities, is not desirable to be strongly bent, therefore, usually all equipment is installed in the hallway. The equipment includes a special ONT router designed to work in fiber optic networks, which can be rented directly from the provider or bought independently. It is desirable that an electrical outlet be installed in the hallway. The end devices are connected via a conventional twisted-pair Ethernet or via WiFi.

Gpon network diagram provided by the provider Rostelecom.

After technical issues are agreed with the client, a router is purchased, a service contract is concluded. The installation and laying of the cable, and the configuration of the router.

Setting up equipment for connection

If the router is purchased or rented from Rostelecom, then its initial configuration is carried out during installation directly by Rostelecom employees. In cases where the subscriber is buying a router himself or he already has equipment, the configuration options may vary depending on the model and manufacturer of network equipment, as well as on its capabilities. On the Internet, you can find enough information with step-by-step instructions for which you can configure it yourself.

Rostelecom offers its customers several models of ONT devices, one of which is G PON ONT RFT620. This is a fairly successful and versatile model that allows you to connect up to 4 devices to the LAN, and an unlimited number via wireless technology, it is possible to watch streaming TV, and connect up to 2 landline phones.

All settings are made through the web configurator. To do this, you need to type in the browser the address " 192.168.1.254", And enter the username and password: user / user. You do not need to drive in any Internet settings, this is already done by the provider. You just need to configure your home network to suit your needs:

  • turn on the wireless WiFi module;
  • change security settings;
  • set static or dynamic IP addresses, etc.

Services and packages

Rostelecom offers its customers many different options and service packages, the most popular of which are the following:

  • home Internet via fiber optic line with a choice of connection speed;
  • interactive TV with more than 160 channels;
  • home landline phone, with a choice of tariff for calls;
  • mobile telephony;
  • rent an ONT router at a low price.

All these services can be selected separately or combined into packages. The monthly subscription fee will also depend on the choice. The company holds constant promotions and discounts, information about which can be found on their portal. Also, for each region separately, the price for services is different.

Pros and cons of connecting using Gpon technology

Connecting via GPON, like any other method, has its positive and negative sides. The positives include the following:

  • The cable is pulled directly between the provider's PBX and into the user's apartment, i.е. there are no intermediate nodes, which significantly increases the speed of information transfer and signal stability.
  • The signal in a fiber optic cable is transmitted not by electrical, but by light pulses. This means that there is no danger of injury from electric shock at all.
  • The ability to connect several services at once, through one ONT device.

There are, of course, disadvantages in this connection method:

  • The optical wire is very afraid of sharp bends, and this suggests that it will be difficult to bring it around the apartment to distant rooms. It is also not recommended to place furniture and other heavy objects on the cable.
  • Although there is nothing of value in the cable for sale, trunk lines and wiring in entrances are constantly threatened by vandals.
  • Electricity is not transmitted through the cable, therefore, there is an increased interest in it from the side of animals. It is advisable to hide it in a box.

Optical cable, due to its high data transfer rate, has enabled providers to provide subscribers with data transfer rates of up to 100 Mb / s or more. When this direction was born, many customers did not have network adapters capable of supporting such a data transfer rate. As a rule, providers install an optical router right in the apartment, or run an optical cable directly to the network card, sometimes a copper cable from the optical terminal is used, and naturally it becomes necessary to distribute WiFi throughout the apartment in order to connect tablets, phones, desktops to the Internet. Let's figure out what we should do in this case in order to distribute WiFi from fiber optics throughout the apartment. Here, I would advise you to first check with your provider whether the terminal that was installed in your apartment has the ability to distribute WiFi, many terminals already have a router, and you just need to configure it. But if this is not possible, or only an optical cable is connected to the apartment, what to do in this situation, how to choose a router with WiFi for fiber optics and can you do without it?

Let's look at the main questions you may face:

  1. An optical fiber has been installed, is it possible to connect a WiFi router to it?
  2. Which router to choose for a speed of 100 Mb / s, which router supports this speed?
  3. Is it possible to distribute WiFi from the term fiber without using a router, but for example from a laptop?

We will also briefly go over the main models on the Russian market.

How to connect to optics

In order to connect an optical cable to a router, it is necessary that the router has the appropriate port. Therefore, you immediately need to check with your provider which connection is used and what format your port is. you may encounter a problem, and the router you buy will not fit the type of connection with the provider. The connection itself, of course, is not a big problem. The WiFi router connects to the GPON terminal if it is installed in your apartment, but if there is only an optical cable, then we directly insert it into our router. I want to say a few words about the connection, since the connection is usually established from our computer, and the terminal or router of the provider that provides Internet access works in bridge mode (Brige). When you figure out what type of connection you have, you can proceed to the next step.

WiFi at 100 Mbps

Already, most modern routers are able to provide WiFi speeds up to 300 Mb / s. When choosing a router, you need to look at its following characteristics:

  • Each of the routers indicates the data transfer rate for each port. The port that is for the incoming speed is called WAN, you also need to check the type of WAN port with the provider, the SFP port is a standard fiber port that supports speeds up to 1 Gb / s, which is equal to 1000 Mb / s.
  • We also pay attention to the speed of the wireless interface - this is the speed over WiFi, it is necessary that it be no less than the speed provided by the provider.

The WiFi standard - IEEE 802.11b/g/n provides speeds up to 300 Mb/s. A router with a speed of up to 150 Mb / s is also suitable. Most routers can have multiple WAN ports, allowing them to connect to both copper cable and fiber. Let me give examples of such routers, I want to note that I do not give recommendations on their purchase, I just took the first ones I got from the Internet:

DIR-615/FB

Main characteristics:

  • WiFi: 802.11b/g/n (300Mbps) frequency 2.4GHz;
  • WAN: one SFP port 10-100 Mbps - optical cable;

Main characteristics:

  • WAN up to 1000 Mbps;
  • Copper port 10/100/1000;
  • Connecting up to 4 devices, h via cable;
  • 2 FXS ports - for phones;
  • Maybe USB 2.0;

Price around 9 tr.

EchoLife HG-8240

Nothing different from the previous one. Price: 6-8 tr. Ali saw for 3.5 tr.

RT-N66U

The feature can issue WiFi connection speed up to 900 Mbps. The price is about 6 to 8 tr. But this router does not fit directly to connect an optical cable, and can only be used as a gateway, this router does not have a port for connecting PON optics.

We will not go into details further, I think the main features are clear here. Let's figure out what to do if you have optics installed in your apartment, but you cannot purchase a router, what are the ways to solve the problem?

WiFi from optics, without a router

This means the situation that you have had optics, connected to one and a computer, and that's it. The cable is thrown, there is no WiFi, the question arises of what to do if there is no money for a regular router. This is where smart programs come to the rescue, the fact is that a modern WiFi adapter, which is built into a laptop, tablet, phone or desktop computer, has the ability not only to receive incoming traffic from the Internet, but also to distribute it synchronously.

To distribute WiFi from a computer or laptop to which optics is connected, simply download the MyPublicWiFi program (May Public Wi-Fi). This program helps you simply and without problems, create a wireless access point from your computer, a couple of mouse clicks, and your computer turns into a router, and you can easily connect to the Internet from your mobile devices. How to configure this program I described in this article:

Many may find that they have a desktop computer without WiFi, but don't be discouraged, there is also a simple and cheap solution for this problem for you. All you need to do is buy a wireless WiFi adapter, this board with an antenna or a device that looks like a USB flash drive that is inserted into your computer, and you get the opportunity to connect, and distribute the Internet like a laptop, through this adapter.

I hope this article was useful for you, be sure to leave your opinion in our group in

When connecting to the Internet, Rostelecom provides its subscribers with the equipment necessary for access. But not all customers are in a hurry to take advantage of this offer. Someone is embarrassed by the additional fee for a router, someone does not want to use a used modem (and this also happens). It is simply more convenient for a number of users to have their own personal router, so that in the event of a change in provider, they do not get used to the new settings system. It is not uncommon for a modem or router issued by a company to cease to suit the user: you need to expand the network, you want to connect Wi-Fi or increase the access speed to the highest possible ... there are a lot of options. But they all lead to one thing - the subscriber goes to the store for new, own equipment. Let's talk about which routers are suitable for Rostelecom, and how not to miscalculate with a purchase.

  • Start by identifying the connection technology

  • What routers does Rostelecom recommend?

  • How to choose a router for ADSL?

  • Choosing a router for ETTH

  • Selection of a router for GPON technology

  • A few general tips for choosing

call long distance.

You can read how to use the Call Detailing service for home and mobile phones and how much it costs to get detailed information here.

The second reason why you should focus on the list of Rostelecom routers is that it will be easier for you to communicate with the provider's technical support. Remote specialists have at their disposal instructions for setting up only those routers that are used in their company. They cannot configure equipment of other brands, since they do not have the data for this and do not bear any responsibility for third-party modems. Field masters charge a fee for setting up routers not received by the company, while setting up their own equipment for free. Of course, it’s not a fact that you will have to contact Rostelecom specialists to solve problems with equipment, but it’s better to play it safe.

Sagemcom, and Zyxel. But if these brands are not used in your region, then you will not be able to cooperate with the company about setting them up.

the router model for Rostelecom must comply with this standard.

What kind of "annex" is connected to you, you can find out in the technical support of Rostelecom. Call 8-800-1000-800 and the operator will provide you with information. You can also try to look for this data in the contract with the company, but they are rarely written there. There are, of course, ways to navigate intuitively, according to the range of connected services, but it is better not to use them.

Important: annex A and annex B routers are not interchangeable! If the equipment does not meet the connection standard, the Internet will not work!

For effective home networking, it is wiser to purchase at least a four-port model. This is especially true if, in addition to the Internet, you have television from Rostelecom connected. The provider for this technology most often uses Intercross, Sagemcom and D-Link routers.

As for the rest of the characteristics, a consultant in a computer equipment store will tell you about this. Specify the speed of your connection in the contract and tell him this information, it is quite enough for the correct selection of equipment.

Attention: if you already have a router from Rostelecom installed, but you want to set up a wireless network at home, it is not necessary to spend extra money. Contact the provider's office and write an application to replace your existing router with a model with Wi-Fi. The company provides such an opportunity.

connect wi-fi, you can't do without a router.

Before visiting the store, study the Rostelecom website - recommended routers for your technology and for ADSL. In principle, any model that matches your connection speed will do. Pay attention to 4-port routers and keep an eye on the bandwidth of the wi-fi channel that your chosen model can provide. Otherwise, there are practically no restrictions.

Setting up a router for ETTH will be about the same as for the Internet via a telephone line. The cable going from the shield to the apartment will need to be connected to the WAN or INTERNET connector instead of the network card, and then configure the PPPoE connections according to the standard scheme. If you have not dealt with the settings before, pay attention to Zyxel brand routers. They are equipped with a fairly convenient automatic interface. All you need to know is your network password and VPI/VCI values. The device will do the rest on its own.

change the tariff of the landline phone.

What to do if the set-top box from Rostelecom asks for a username and password can be read here.

The recommendations remain essentially the same. Visit the official website and check what kind of router for Rostelecom a resident of your region needs to establish a wireless connection. In tandem with an optical terminal, models recommended for both ADSL and ETTH technology can work. Before visiting the store, check the speed of your connection, it will need to be reported to the seller. Also tell the consultant what devices are currently connected to the optical terminal and how you plan to expand the network. Yes, be sure to emphasize that the router is needed to work in tandem with the ONT, this will help the specialist issue the correct recommendation.

Attention: if your optical terminal is equipped with the function of wireless Internet distribution, you cannot connect a Wi-Fi router paired with it. The signals from these two devices will interfere with each other. You can check if there is Wi-Fi on your ONT by the presence of antennas sticking out of the case or the WLAN indicator on the instrument panel. In extreme cases, contact the instructions or the provider. In fact, there are no special restrictions on choosing a router for a specific provider. It is better for you to focus on the required power of the wireless channel, the compliance of the device with the speed of your connection and the number of ports. It makes no sense to contact technical support or company offices to find out which routers are suitable for Rostelecom. Specialists, following corporate instructions, will offer you only those models that are available to subscribers upon connection. Consulting on third-party equipment is not included in their duties.

It would be useful to study several sites with reviews of subscribers working on routers of your chosen brand. One or two responses on Yandex Market will not be able to give a complete picture. But reviews on specialized forums for setting up and discussing the work of Rostelecom, especially from users with a good history, should be taken into account. As a last resort, on the same resource you can ask to recommend a wifi router, which is better for Rostelecom. You will get a lot of live advice from non-interested people, more useful than the standard recommendations of the RTC staff.

Routers provide access to the network. When connecting to the Internet, the Rostelecom provider provides its own equipment on a lease basis with a small fee or offers customers to purchase a device. If for some reason the user does not want to do this, he will have to buy the device himself. You should know which routers Rostelecom allows you to use in order to get a stable connection.

First you need to decide on financial opportunities. Manufacturers produce devices of different cost. Traditionally, the differences lie in the stability of maintaining the signal, coverage area and sensitivity to obstacles. Before buying, you need to find out what connection technology the user uses. There are generic models that support multiple standards, but they are rare. Top speed is also important. It must match the one provided by the provider, or exceed it.

Additionally, you should familiarize yourself with the list of recommended routers supported by Rostelecom. To do this, go to the regional website of the provider and select the "Internet" section in the top menu. A strip with additional sections will appear under the button. You should click on the line "Equipment". On the new page you can see the list of devices.

Popular manufacturers of Wi-Fi routers

The service life of the router and the stability of the connection depend on the manufacturer. Famous brands are less likely to release defective models and provide additional warranties. Popular companies include the following:

  1. TP Link. The devices are relatively low cost, good build quality and stable connection of the router to the network. To use the Internet Rostelecom at home is the best option. The average service life of devices is 3-5 years.
  2. Asus. Models are expensive, but maintain excellent connectivity. Traditionally, devices are equipped with additional options and have good technical performance. In the line there are budget devices. Their characteristics are lower, and the price is relatively higher than that of their counterparts, but this is due to the build quality.
  3. D Link. The company specializes in the production of network equipment, so you can trust it. The company offers routers of different price and performance.
  4. Zyxel. They are distinguished by long service life and stable signal maintenance. The best option in terms of price and quality. The line includes both budget and advanced models.

In response to the question of which router is better for Rostelecom, you can recommend models from popular manufacturers. Devices of these companies are found in the list of recommended ones on the provider's page.

Which router is suitable for Rostelecom

To understand which router is suitable for Rostelecom Internet, you need to check the connection standard. There are 3 options:

  1. DSL. One of the varieties is ADSL. Relatively outdated technology that involves connecting through a telephone line.
  2. ethernet. A standard in which the connection is made through a separate provider channel. Used in most cases.
  3. GPON. Fast, but expensive type of connection.

The router for Rostelecom must comply with the standard used by the user.

How to choose a router under Rostelecom for ADSL technology

Dial-up routers can support either Annex A or Annex B. Internet access will be interrupted if incompatible technologies are used. To understand which standard applies to you, you can read the contents of the contract or contact technical support. The second option is preferable, because. the document does not always indicate the type of connection.

Which Wi-Fi router is better for Rostelecom with an ETTH connection

For correct operation, any router that supports ETTH will do. Additionally, you should consider the speed of your connection. There are no other restrictions. The provider offers to purchase the following models:

  1. Qtech QBR-1041WU.
  2. Qtech QBR-1241WUX.
  3. D-link DSL-2520U.
  4. D-Link DSL-524T.

Which router is better to buy for GPON from Rostelecom

Before purchasing a router with GPON technology support, you need to consult the operator. This is due to the use of the optical terminal. For proper operation, the device must have a special Rostelecom firmware. ISP routers are preferred. Models in the list of recommended equipment are presented for reference only.

There are no special restrictions when choosing a router depending on the provider. For comfortable work, it is recommended to listen to the following tips:

  1. Pay attention to the number of LAN ports. Traditionally, devices are equipped with 4 connectors. If you plan to connect additional equipment to the device (TVs, consoles, several PCs, etc.), you need to give preference to a model with a large number of ports.
  2. Choose the Wi-Fi standard depending on the speed. Most routers support 802.11n. The theoretical maximum speed when using it is 600 Mbps. The alternative is 802.11ac. It allows you to develop speeds up to 6.77 Gb / s. However, in practice the figures are lower.
  3. Try to get a model with an extended frequency range. This is important for routers located in apartments. When operating at the same frequency, the devices influence each other. This leads to interference and failures. Traditionally, the frequency used is 2.4 GHz. It is only suitable for private homes and smartphones, because. a stable connection is not guaranteed. Fewer devices operate at 5 GHz, so it is preferable.
  4. If the coverage area must be large (for example, the router is used in a private house), purchase a model with external antennas. If necessary, they can be replaced. The number of antennas affects the speed.
  5. A spare USB port is welcome. The connector will allow you to connect a wireless modem if a failure occurs.

Before buying, you need to read user reviews. Often, the model has good characteristics, but due to the poor quality of components and assembly, it does not maintain a stable connection or quickly fails.
