But I was curious to know how the cow feels in our village?

I went to the administration of a rural settlement and found out that in our village there are a total of 209 people living in 56 households. There are only 53 dairy cows in them. And 3 years ago there were 2 times more of them. The residents named the reason for the reduction in the livestock:

1) Rise in price of feed in comparison with dairy products.

2) Bad weather conditions in recent years.

3) Aging of the village.

But there are people who keep 2, 3 or even 4 cows on the farm. I admire them, their hard work. Of course, they get income from it. And it is right. He who works eats. For example, in our village, Albina Nikolaevna Yegorova has 3 cows. And on the farm of Lukina Valentina Nikolaevna they keep 4 cows. Moreover, the owners work at their main job. They donate milk to RIPO and receive income. They receive about 18 thousand rubles a month. Of course, some of them are used to buy feed.

To date, the world record for milk production belongs to a Cuban cow named Ubre Blanca (White Uyma). The champion gave 27 672 kilograms of milk in 365 days! On average, 75.8 kilograms of milk is fed from this cow in one day. That's almost eight buckets! Ubre Blanca won the title of champion, breaking the previous world record held by a cow from the United States, Biener Arlinda Ellen. It is interesting that the new champion is distinguished by an unusually kind disposition, however, like all other representatives of these animals.

In my childhood, as far as I can remember, my parents kept cows all the time, one or two, and once three at the same time. Of course, we always gave them nicknames-names (Manka, Marta, Masha, Rita, Dasha ...). So, our cows gave 20-35 liters per day in spring and summer, 10-20 liters in autumn and winter. Yes, it was a happy dairy childhood. And one grandmother in our village had a cow, from which she fed at a time (and the cows were milked 3 times / day) 2 buckets of milk (16-20 liters) - this is where it was a miracle for us.

Milk is quite high in calories: in 100 g it is more than 60 calories. So half a liter of milk is enough to satisfy a third of the body's daily energy needs. A liter of whole milk, in terms of calorie content, replaces 370 g of beef or about 700 g of potatoes.

Interestingly, the calorie content of different types of milk is different. So, 1 kg. female deer milk contains 272 kcal, cows - about 700, and rabbits - as much as 1700.

The most nutritious and healthy milk a cow gives during the first week after calving. Colostrum is cooked from it - an incredibly tasty porous, juicy product.

Leaving her shed today, Vasya went to the house. It was already evening, but my father did not return. Vasya took the railway lamp from his mother and went to honk the train, which was about to pass. Vasya studied in the fourth grade of a seven-year collective farm, where he went five kilometers from home. Looking at the passing trains, he tried to discern people behind the glass windows and guess where they were going and what their fate was.

A train appeared. Hearing his hum, in the yard of Vasya's house a cow moaned plaintively, which was still waiting for its calf. Vasya raised the train with a clear signal of free passage. The locomotive turned heavily with its wheels and soon braked on a long rise, where it was difficult for it to stretch the cars. The driver tried not to slip, and his assistant walked in front of the train and poured sand on the rails. Vasya also began to help him.

The driver was surprised that the boy behaved like an adult and knew a lot about driving a steam locomotive. They had to work for quite a long time, and the train still mastered the ascent. The driver threw two apples to Vasya, gave two beeps and drove off. Vasya glanced at the place where he had left the lantern, and saw his father who had just approached there.

The calf was not with him. The father said that he had sold it for slaughter: a good price was given for a young bull with tender meat. But on the way home, he began to feel sorry for the heifer: the whole family was already used to him.

Vasya went to the barn to the cow. She did not eat anything, but silently and rarely breathed, as if she had guessed everything and was experiencing hopeless grief. Vasya stroked and caressed the cow for a long time, but she remained motionless and indifferent: now she needed only her son - a calf, and nothing could replace him. She gazed into the darkness with large eyes, but she could not cry with them to appease her sorrow.

The next day, my father began to plow on the cow. She used to be hard-working, but now she dragged the plow with detachment and indifference. In the evening she was allowed to graze, but she did not eat grass, did not walk in the field, but stood pensively. Vasya took a loaf of bread, sprinkled it with salt and carried it to the cow. She did not eat it, but suddenly jerked her neck, screamed out in a dissimilar throaty voice and fled into the field. Father and Vasya walked around and clicked on her until midnight. The cow did not answer. In the morning she nevertheless came to the house.

Since then, her milk has disappeared altogether. The cow became gloomy, dull and did not respond to Vasya's affection. Sometimes she began to walk on rails, although she was empathetic before and never did it.

Soon Vasya, returning from school in the evening, saw that a freight train was standing near their house. He hit a cow walking on the rails. The machinist - the same one whom Vasya had recently helped to get up the ascent - said that he was blowing whistles to the cow for ten minutes, and then he immediately braked. But she acted as if she did not understand anything - and the train ran over her.

The mutilated body of a cow was dragged out from under the tender and dumped into a dry ditch. The next day my father sold the carcass to the general store. Vasya, together with him, took her to the area on a cart.

The next day at school, the teacher told them to write an essay from their lives. Vasya wrote: “We had a cow. When she lived, her mother, father and me ate milk from her. Then she gave birth to a son - a calf, and he also ate milk from her, the three of us and he was the fourth, but everyone had enough. The cow was still plowing and carrying luggage. Then her son was sold for meat. The cow began to suffer, but soon died from the train. And they ate it too, because it is beef. The cow gave us everything, that is, milk, son, meat, skin, entrails and bones, she was kind. I remember our cow and will not forget. "
